Lending library units from the library storages, reference libraries, and library units mediated by interlibrary loan services in NL CR reading rooms.
Lending services are among the essential services provided by the NL CR. The library offers lending services to registered users and, to a limited extent, to visitors with a One-Day Access Pass.
On-site lending services are provided:
- to reading rooms from funds stored in library storages
- in the reading rooms from reference library collections (cannot be ordered in advance)
- in the Reference Centre through interlibrary loan services
Library units for on-site study can be ordered through:
- NL CR online catalogue - NKC database - for registered users, or on the basis of pre-registration
- scanned catalogues (RetrIS) - no library card required
- Slavonic Library online catalogue - for registered users who have their library card activated in the Slavonic Library
- Catalogue of librarianship literature - KKL database - for registered users
- Database of incunables, old prints, and maps - STT database - for registered users
- in person at the Consultation and Information Service counter in the Main Hall, or by e-mail
- in person in selected reading rooms (Reference Centre, Periodicals Reading Room, Music Department Reading Room, Library and Information Science Library, Manuscripts and Early Printed Books Reading Room), or by e-mail
Dispatch time
The dispatch time depends on the type of document ordered and the place where it is stored. The call number overview provides detailed information on ordering publications from different parts of the collection and their dispatch time.
- Library units from the Universal Library Collection (ULC) stored in the Klementinum are usually ready for study within 2 hours of ordering. ULC units stored in the Hostivař depository are dispatched twice a day on weekdays—units ordered from 12 PM to 8 AM are available during the morning, and units ordered from 8 AM to 12 PM are available during the afternoon.
- If the unit is listed as “longer dispatch”, the dispatch time may be extended by the time it takes to process and enter the unit data into the online catalogue.
- Documents from the modern conservation collections are made available under *special conditions* in the Hostivař Reading Room.
- The dispatch time varies in the Periodicals Reading Room (legal deposit copies), Library and Information Science Library, Slavonic Library, Manuscripts and Early Printed Books Reading Room, Hostivař Reading Room.
Hold period for library units for lending in reading rooms:
- for library units ordered from library storage, the hold period is generally 14 calendar days; it can be individually adjusted by regulations of individual reading rooms of the NL CR
- in selected reading rooms, reservations can be extended online in the user’s account, even multiple times under the following conditions:
- another user has not ordered the unit
- the user has no overdue off-site items or reservations in the reading rooms registered in their account
- the extension can also be requested in the reading room in person, by phone or by e-mail - The Hostivař Reading Room and the Manuscripts and Early Printed Books Reading Room have different hold periods.
Access to ordered documents
On-site study of ordered documents is possible for registered users with a valid library card.
