Interlibrary loan services allow you to obtain a document unavailable in the NLCR collection from another Czech or foreign library.

Documents not in the NLCR collection can be obtained by registered NLCR users with a valid library card through interlibrary loan services, either from another Czech Republic library or abroad.

The availability of documents in the NLCR can be verified in:

  • the *NLCR online catalogue*
  • *scanned NLCR catalogues*
  • the *National Digital Library (NDL)*

The availability of documents in other Czech libraries can be verified in:

  • The *Union Collections Catalogue of the Czech Republic* (UCC and UCCP)
  • the *knihovny.cz* portal
  • *other sources*

For ordering, use the "MVS" tab in the online catalogue of the NLCR - NKC database. Please ensure the *basic bibliographic data* is in the correct format when filling out your order. You will be notified by e-mail when your order has been processed. Either the entire document or a copy of part of it can be ordered. A separate order must be filled out for each request (e.g. each individual article/book)

Rules for ordering documents and their copies from libraries in the Czech Republic
This service is free of charge. If copies are ordered, the amount charged by the lending library for the copies is paid. The lending period of the document and the lending method (on-site/off-site) is decided by the library lending the item. Extension of the loan must be requested before the loan period expires (unless the supplying library sets a shorter period) by e-mail at mvs[at]nkp[dot]cz, by phone at 221 663 202, or in person. Copies from the Czech Republic are supplied to end users in print and black and white as standard.

Interlibrary loan services are also provided through the *ZISKEJ* service. In this case, the delivery of documents is governed by the *rules* and the *ZISKEJ service price list*.

This is a paid service; payment is made upon delivery of the document or copies. List of fees:

  • borrowing an original document:
    • document source Europe except for Great Britain - CZK 250 for each completed loan
    • document source Great Britain and outside Europe - CZK 450 for each completed loan
  • a copy of the requested document: CZK 40 for every five pages of the original (or portion thereof)

The loaned document can be borrowed off-site unless the requesting library (or the NLCR) stipulates otherwise or viewed in the reading rooms of the NLCR; copies are made on self-service copying machines in the NLCR premises. Extension of the loan must be requested before the loan period expires (unless the lending library sets a shorter period) by e-mail at mvs[at]nkp[dot]cz, by phone at 221 663 202, or in person. In case of exceeding the set borrowing time, a fine of 10 CZK/day is charged.

Copies obtained from abroad are typically supplied to end users in hard copy and in black and white.

Orders are usually processed within two to four weeks, and copies of articles often within a few days. If the book/article is not found within three months, the user is informed of this fact, and if interested, the document can be ordered again.
