The service is intended for all interested in using the NLCR's complete portfolio of services.
Any citizen over 15 can become an NLCR user; registration can be completed in person in the Main Hall. Library cards are usually issued for one year from the date of registration. Their validity can be extended, and their loss must be reported immediately (a duplicate can also be issued).
Conditions for issuing a library card:
- completed registration form
- payment of the *registration fee*
- a valid personal identity document (ID card, passport, driving licence, Czech permanent or long-term residence permit, police or Czech military service card, etc.)
Registered users with a valid library card can:
- study printed materials *freely available in reading rooms* (in the Researchers' Reading Room under *specific rules*; in the Lending Library and Reading Room of the Slavonic Library only after activating a reader account there)
- search in *online catalogues*, use NLCR collections for *on-site* or *off-site* study, including e-books
- use digital libraries (*National Digital Library*, *Manuscriptorium*, *Webarchive*)
- access out-of-commerce works (OCW) in the *National Digital Library* and other digital libraries that *make out-of-commerce works available*
- access the *internet from NLCR computers or via Wi-Fi* on their own portable/mobile devices
- use *reference* and *resource* services
- *copy (or print)* documents from the library collection, from the Internet, or their own materials on self-service machines
- use reprographic services on demand from documents that they have pre-ordered for study from library storage
- use *inter-library services*
- use the contents of *licensed databases* locally or remotely
- from 18 years of age, users can borrow documents off-site from designated parts of the library collection (based on documents presented at registration)
