Self-service pickup locker

The Self-service pickup locker allows you to pick up selected books ordered for off-site borrowing even when the Main Hall is closed.

It is also possible to collect books reserved for off-site borrowing from the National Library of the Czech Republic via the Self-service pickup locker.

Where can I find the Self-service pickup locker and how can I access it?

  • The pickup locker is located in the Klementinum complex, opposite entrance A.
  • It is accessible during the opening hours of the Klementinum complex, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (Monday-Sunday).
  • In order to open the locker to pick up your reserved books, you need to scan the barcode of your valid library card at the reader at the pickup locker.

What is the Self-service pickup locker used for?

  • The pickup locker is used exclusively to pick up books reserved for absentee borrowing.
  • It is not intended for returning borrowed books.

Who can use the Self-service pickup locker?

  • It can only be used by registered users with a valid library card.
  • When checking out reserved books, it is necessary to have settled all debts to the National Library of the Czech Republic - see below.

Ordering books to be collected from the Self-service pickup locker.

  • Books can be ordered through the online catalogue of the National Library of the Czech Republic - NKC base.
  • When ordering, the user chooses the collection point of the "BOX in front of Entrance A"
  • The user may indicate in the notes a preference for placing the books in lower or higher boxes.
  • The maximum number of books for a single reservation for the book vending machine is 10 volumes.

Preparation of reserved books for the Self-service pickup locker

  • Reserved books are placed in the pickup locker twice a day.
  • The user must wait for a confirmation email before going to pick up the books.

Notification and reservation time in the Self-service pickup locker

  • After the reservation is placed in the pickup locker, the user receives a confirmation email.
  • The email will state the date by which the reserved books can be picked up (7 calendar days).
  • Information about current bookings, including the place and expiry date of the booking, can be checked in the reader's account.

Distribution of reservations

  • If necessary, books for one user can be divided into several lockers.

Collection of reservations

  • The condition for collecting reserved books is that the user has settled all obligations to the National Library of the Czech Republic.
  • It is not possible to check out reserved books unless:
    • the user does not have a valid library card,
    • the user has borrowings registered on his/her reader account for which the borrowing period has been exceeded,
    • the user has a debt registered on his/her reading account,
    • the user has an offence registered on his/her reading account.
  • Opening a locker will automatically borrow all the books stored in that locker.
  • If the user does not collect the books on time, they will be returned to the store and the reservation will be cancelled.

Full capacity of the Self-service pickup locker

  • If the pickup locker is fully occupied, the reserved volumes will be ready for collection in the Main Hall.
  • The user will be notified of the change of pickup location by email.
