Provision of information about the services and resources of the NLCR, brief answers to specific factual questions, or creation of basic lists of resources on a topic.

Reference services provide basic information and answers to questions to help users use the library, find relevant resources, or obtain bibliographic or factual information.

Basic consultations on using the NLCR's services and funds can be obtained in the Main Hall (hala.os@nkp.cz, 221 663 248) and in individual reading rooms.

Reference services allow you to find information that is not directly related to the services or funds of the NLCR. These reference services are provided by the Reference Centre. You can ask for:

  1. brief factual and bibliographical data
  2. the most appropriate sources in a particular field for Internet searches (mainly bibliographic sources)

It is possible to get brief answers to specific questions and a basic overview (up to 10 entries) of sources on the topic (books, journals, or websites). Replies are usually provided within two working days.

Questions can be sent by e-mail to: reference@nkp.cz or asked in person at the *Reference Centre*. Be specific when making your requests - define the question and what kind of answer you are looking for (e.g.: the information should be historical, contemporary, what area of knowledge your question falls into - i.e. who, what, why, when and where).

The reference service cannot answer questions that require time-consuming searches, but we will perform basic research (*research services*). Answers to bibliographic queries about books published in the Czech Republic can be found in the NLCR's resources based on the right to legal deposit of printed documents. The NLCR focuses primarily on social and natural sciences. For questions on literature in the fields of technology, medicine, or law, we recommend contacting the libraries with the appropriate focus.

The information, bibliographic, and reference services provided in the Library of Librarianship Literature are intended primarily for librarians.
