The EOD service allows you to obtain books from the collection of the NLCR or the Slavonic Library published between 1500 and 1900, which are no longer protected by copyright law.
The eBooks on Demand service - abbreviated as EOD - allows you to obtain books from the collection of the NLCR or the Slavonic Library published between 1500 and 1900, which are no longer protected by copyright law. The output format of EOD is a PDF file that allows the reader to:
- view and browse the e-book in standard software (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader)
- print individual pages of a document or an entire e-book
- copy images and parts of text into other applications (such as text editors)
- If the quality of the original file allows, optical character recognition (OCR) is performed. Then, the e-book can also be searched using full text.
How does EOD work?
The EOD service can be used by any natural person over 18 years of age who is legally capable of performing legal acts. They do not have to be a registered reader of the NLCR.
E-books obtained through the EOD service may only be used for personal use and non-commercial purposes. The e-books produced within the EOD are freely available to the public in the UIBK Innsbruck repository.
In EOD, the entire book is always digitised. If the physical condition of the book does not allow it, or if it is included in one of the digitisation projects of the NLCR, we have the right to refuse the order.
The EOD Terms and Conditions and the EOD Service Price List govern the provision of the EOD Service.
How to obtain an e-book
Search for the book in the NLCR, STT, or SLK online catalogue and press the "EOD—order book” button.
You will receive the e-book electronically (we will send you a download link by e-mail). We will confirm your order by e-mail, and within 14 days, we will digitise the book. You will then be asked to pay for the e-book you have ordered. The following forms of payment are accepted:
- online via credit card or Click & Buy payment system
- based on invoice - only orders delivered in the Czech Republic
- in cash at the cash desk of the Reference and Interlibrary Services Department of the NLCR
Once the applicable fees have been received, the e-book will be sent to the user.
EOD Library Network
The eBooks on Demand project involves a number of libraries and other memory institutions across Europe. If you can't find the book you need in the NLCR, try searching the EOD catalogue - they may have it elsewhere.
