People with disabilities can either register for a library account or get one-day tickets for free. ZTP/P card holders can be assisted by an accompanying person. The NLCR also offers a library assistance service and preferential conditions for reprographic services.
In addition to the standard services listed in Annex 1 of the Library Regulations, the NLCR offers services directly oriented to users with specific needs. A health card (TP, ZTP, ZTP/P) is generally required to take advantage of the services listed below.
For lending services (books, magazines, and newspapers, etc.), including on-site, and for interlibrary loan services, it is necessary to be a registered user with a valid library card. To use licensed databases and out-of-market works in the National Digital Library, you must be a registered user of the NLCR.
User registration and registration renewal
Persons who present a valid TP, ZTP, or ZTP/P card are entitled to free registration and renewal.
In these cases, the registration can be extended remotely by sending an e-mail. Further information is available on the NLCR website.
One-day ticket
Persons who present a TP, ZTP, ZTP/P card (in the case of ZTP/P also a person who provides personal assistance services) and wish to learn about the services of the NLCR or visit an exhibition in the restricted area are provided with a free one-day ticket that entitles them to enter the restricted area of the library.
Personal assistance service (intended for holders of a ZTP/P card)
A ZTP/P cardholder who uses the assistance services of an accompanying person in the NLCR can be a registered user of the NLCR with a valid library card or a holder of a one-day ticket. The type of entry determines the range of services available and, therefore, the tasks for which the accompanying person can provide assistance or represent the person.
Entry of the accompanying person into the restricted area of the NLCR
The accompanying person enters the restricted area of the NLCR on the basis of:
- their own library card or
- a one-day ticket issued free of charge to the accompanying person in the Main Hall after the represented person presents his/her ZTP/P card
Mediation of services without the physical presence of the represented person
For registered NLCR users with a valid library card who hold a ZTP/P card, the accompanying person can arrange all NLCR services without the represented person's physical presence in the library.
In such a case, the accompanying person is obliged to present a combination of the documents listed below to the NLCR staff:
- the valid library card of the person represented (this library card can also be used for access to the restricted area)
- power of attorney from the represented person (officially certified power of attorney or power of attorney signed in front of an employee of the NLCR)
- identification document - citizen ID card or passport
Assistance dog escort / Assistance dog
Registered users with a valid library card and holders of one-day passes who use an assistance dog can move with the assistance dog in all areas of the NLCR open to the public.
They are required to present a valid dog license when entering the premises.
When moving around the NLCR premises, the assistance dog should also be clearly marked with a harness or vest bearing the logo of the company that trained it.
With the exception of assistance dogs, dogs and other animals are not allowed in the NLCR.
Library assistance service (for holders of ZTP and ZTP/P cards)
A disabled person with a ZTP or ZTP/P card can request library assistance from a librarian of the NLCR.
This person (hereinafter referred to as the assistant) is available to the user for a pre-agreed period of time at a time confirmed by the NLCR.
In addition to standard information, reference, and consultation services, the assistant can also provide personal copying services on self-service copy machines upon request and arrange priority reprographic services at the NLCR workplace from 9:00 to 14:30; reprographic services at later hours are arranged by the assistant in standard mode.
The library assistance service can be requested from the NLCR at least two working days in advance, except on days when the NLCR is closed for operational reasons. An order for library assistance is binding after mutual confirmation. The meeting point is the Information Desk in the Main Hall.
The library assistance service can be ordered in the following ways:
- by e-mail at asistent@nkp.cz
- by phone at +420 221 663 248

Priority use of reprographic services on request
(intended for holders of ZTP and ZTP/P cards who have ordered library assistance service)
This service is part of the library assistance service - it is not provided separately. Only persons with ZTP and ZTP/P cards who have ordered the library assistance service are entitled to this service. It is provided only on weekdays between 9:00 and 14:30.
The service, which is related to the Guidelines for the Use of Reprographic Services in the NLCR, allows users with a valid ZTP and ZTP/P card to ask an assistant for priority copies from the NLCR collections from pre-reserved library units and reference materials available in the reading rooms. In practice, this means that an assistant (an NLCR librarian) will take the item to the reprographics department of the NLCR between 9:00 and 14:30 and then arrange for copies to be picked up from the reprographics department and handed over to the user the same day.
The limits for priority copying services are as follows:
Printed original.... printed copy A4 b/w .... up to 50 pages
Printed original.... printed copy A3 b/w .... up to 10 pages

In the event that health reasons prevent the reader from operating the photocopying machine, the librarian will copy a larger number of pages for the user, depending on the operational circumstances, from part or all of the library units that can be copied by self-service.
